Things have been kind of hectic over the past few months. In April, I took a break from updating this blog in order to just finish out a manuscript. It has been completed, and it’s called Snowraven. It sits at 80,000 words, which may fluctuate in the ongoing flurry of edits. In July, I began work at Wizards of the Coast as a Software Test Engineer. As a gamer, I’d never thought I’d be working for Wizards, but I’d always kind of hoped…
Well, it’s turned out as awesome as I thought it would be. It’s the most amazing company that I’ve ever worked for, hands down. I wholly endorse them, but as a D&D and MTG fan, I’ve done that for quite a while already now.
Completing a novel-length manuscript finally gave me the sense of security to publish “A Jalt’s Tooth” and “Elfsbane Tea”, which can be found on this very site. Stylistically, they’re very different, and it’s shocking to me to look back on these, especially after having spent the last several months in Mierin’s head. She’s more confident than Wil by far, and less verbose than Barrett as a narrator.
I’ll have more updates as they develop on the Snowraven project as it moves forward. Once it’s been edited to my satisfaction, I’ll also be developing the short story “Sorceress’ Bangle”, intended for the same collection as “Jalt’s Tooth” (slated to be called The Adventurers). I’ll also be writing a just-for-fun short story and then launching into the next novel project: Soles Bay.
Lauren’s doing fine too, she’s now a full-time artist and in the near future, we’ll be putting more some of her beautiful artwork up on the site.
