About Greg

Gregory Blake was born in 1985 in Olympia, WA. After graduating from Tumwater High School, he had a brief stint at the University of Washington before returning to a Community College. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s in Economics, minor English Creative Writing.

His hobbies and interests vary from Japanese manga to video games and movies to Scandinavian and Old Germanic poetry, to the works of modern fantasists Neil Gaiman, George R.R. Martin and Tad Williams (to name three).   His favorite musical genres are classic rock or epic metal.  Like his favorite poetry, his favorite bands come from Germany and Scandinavia respectively: Blind Guardian and Sonata Arctica.  His favorite console games are old-school Nintendo RPGs like Final Fantasy 4 and 6, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana and his favorite PC classics are the Fallout Series, Baldur’s Gate series and the Warcraft and Starcraft RTS franchises.

He’s currently employed as a Certification Tester for Xbox 360 games, and keeps busy in his offtime by tending a (very) small garden, translating Japanese manga for a fangroup on an ‘only-if-needed’ basis, writing a novel, scripting a couple interactive media projects, and practicing his intonation for Spoken-Word renditions of Beowulf in Old English.  Studying Japanese and brushing up on his paltry skills in German also take some of his time.

What little free time isn’t consumed by the above paragraph goes towards spending time with his wonderful girlfriend of seven years, playing video games, and reading (or rereading) favorite novels.  Sometimes, he even updates this blog!  But not often, because that would be silly.

Also, he doesn’t bite:  He’s on Facebook and can also be reached at gregoryblake at wyvernet.com (swap ‘at’ for ‘@’, just a precaution against spammers.  I get enough of those filtering through the WoW gold spam ads in my Wordpress…)
